Is bookkeeping tax deductible?

Short answer

Yes, bookkeeping fees are tax deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense. Sole proprietors and single-member LLCs deduct them on Schedule C, usually as legal and professional services. Partnerships and corporations deduct them on the business return. Bookkeeping software, receipt apps, and payroll processing fees are deductible the same way.

Fees for preparing your personal, non-business return are generally not deductible for individuals.
