How long does it take to prepare a tax return?
Short answer
A simple personal return usually takes a few days once every document is in. Small business returns typically take one to three weeks, depending on whether the books are clean, how many K-1s or states are involved, and how quickly questions get answered. Missing documents cause most of the delays.
Most of our individual returns are filed within 7 to 10 business days of complete documents.
