Hiring a bookkeeper

Should I hire a bookkeeper or do it myself?

Short answer

Do your own bookkeeping if you have under 50 transactions a month, one bank account, and no payroll. Hire a bookkeeper once you add employees, sales tax, inventory, or a second account, or when you are more than a month behind. Doing it yourself saves money only while the books stay accurate and current.
